Lou Berliner Park

Lou Berliner Park is home to the largest softball complex in the country with women's, men's and co-ed teams all playing on the park's 31 fields. Located in the Southwest area of Columbus at 325 Greenlawn Avenue, the park comprises 209.70 acres and features the following: Athletic Complex, Athletic Fields (Soccer, Football, Rugby, Cricket, etc.), Ball Diamonds (Lit and Unlit), Greenway Trail Access, River/Creek Access, Ample Parking, Picnic Areas, Playground, Shelterhouse (Open/Non-reservable), and Woods & Wildlife Area

The Short North Arts District

Short North - The Short North Arts District is a vibrant, eclectic area just north of downtown Columbus, primarily along High Street. It is known for its art, dining, nightlife, fashion, home decor and unique gifts. Art infuses the area from exhibits in galleries and restaurants to the murals that decorate the streetscapes. The district is very gay-friendly and many of the establishments are gay-owned. Enjoy bars such as Havana, Axis, Union Cafe and Level. Of the many retailers lining High Street, TORSO sells mens fashion clothing, designer underwear and clubwear; and Posh Pets specializes in accoutrements for your favorite cat or dog. Ohio's largest city has two of the components that make for a great gay scene: it has a major collegiate presence (Ohio State University), and it's a center of government (being the state capital). An extremely high number of gays and lesbians live here, and enjoy its lively downtown neighborhoods (such as the gay-popular Short North and German Village areas). Getting to Know Gay Columbus:

Ohio's biggest city (population 730,000), Columbus is also the 15th largest city in the nation. Given its size, it probably shouldn't come as any huge shock that it's home to a sizeable gay and lesbian community, and more than 25 gay bars and clubs. But as a visitor destination, Columbus still lags behind many other cities its size, in part because many gay travelers don't realize it has so much to offer.

Columbus is a terrific weekend destination, with plenty to see and do, and one of the most visible gay communities in the country. If you're looking for a relatively affordable vacation spot that packs plenty of punch when it comes to arts and culture, nightclubbing, shopping, and dining, Columbus might just fit the bill.
